~Olympia Las Vegas 2012 TEAM MAGNUM recap~
I have worked in the “fitness industry” for almost 9 years now…… NINE YEARS….. as a 29 year old that sounds, well….LONG.
I now understand that there are many different categories to this INDUSTRY we title FITNESS.
Before I dive into what I have learned with my recent excursion, let me be clear on one thing!
The team I travelled to the Olympia with, MAGNUM NUTRACEUTIFALS, athletes, owners, tech staff and management included were among some of the warmest, kindest, funniest, driven, loving, soulful human beings I have ever met. Beautiful men and women from the deepest of their bodies to the glow of their skin, and to be included in this batch of people is a blessing and I am honored.
I am not a competitor. I have competed, and perhaps one day in the future I will again. But at this point in my journey, the important thing for ME is to continue MY daily grind of personal health and physical fitness to the BEST that I can FOR ME.
Do I dream of being in magazines and rocking the cover of Oxygen?
YUP!!!! Sure do
Is my skin thick enough for the shut downs and critics on how tight my glutes are or how I need to show a lower body fat percentage to “make it”
MMMMmmmm I’m Not sure
There are multiple “worlds” we’ll call them within the industry, and the world that I am very fond of and have experience in is the health and wellness world.
This is the world in which I have the amazing opportunity to create new self-image and esteem for men and women who perhaps were lacking with their own. A world where I am able to help guide clients through a maintainable functional and results based lifestyle change, creating a new body and new approach to fitness and their well-being.
A world where we are taught to love who we are from the deepest of our core to the slight perfect imperfections ( that we all have:)
This is a world in which I am comfortable……
Another world in the fitness industry is the competitions / modelling world -
Hands down this is the reason we all WANT to workout and eat clean…… The magazine covers that we all dream to be on or even come close to mimicking, come from this world.
This is the world where I am less comfortable, but a world that I partially dream of living in…. it’s an odd combo for me:)
In order to grace the covers of these magazines one must have some tough skin.
There are critics left right and center flying at ya, and if you’re not cover ready, you’d better believe that there is someone ready standing on your heels and happy to help you out of the way.
Your body must remain at 110% peak condition, your hair, makeup, nails, clothing, your whole image is always priority. (If you know Me, you likely know that I don’t own a brush.lol and I barely know how to wear make up. I also have to throw this in……. offending NOBODY i hope.
Women with small breasts seem to get nowhere! This is sad for me as I do not foresee myself getting any help in that area in the near, or likely any future, and this could pose a problem for benefiting my fitness modelling career, if I chose to go that route…. FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!
I experienced quite the variety in personalities and energy from various people this past weekend at the Expo. Some were in it for THEM, and no body else, and others were warm and welcoming to all….. These were the people whom I was drawn to and wish to mimic. (These people were my Team)
The ones who were “in it for themselves” were very off putting and left a bad taste in my mouth. Now I am well aware that this personality exists in EVERY industry and in everyday life, and again, I chose to avoid this energy regardless of where I am or what I am doing.
Is it possible to combine MY world with the fitness modelling world??
I think so, and perhaps one day I will find out……..
It might begin with another competition….. it has after all been almost 6 years since I last competed, and now I have the amazing team of MAGNUM NUTRACEUTICALS behind me, and this gives me strength, hope and knowledge to create a winner and maybe even a COVER??!!
To sum up my Olympia experience, I left in AWE of the physiques ,in awe of my fellow Magnum athletes, proud of my team and company owners, proud of ME for maintaining my comfort and My world. I left with drive and desire to push harder each day and to maybe even compete again after years of saying NO NO NO.
I am finally in a place in my heart where I am truly happy with who I am and what I stand for. I am happy with my shape and my strength, and excited to watch my body transform even more. I am a woman who knows she does the best she can each day and a judges decision on my stage placement won’t take that away from me, and so I say…. Bring it on!!!
(i think) lol
Xoxoxoxo Such a Gem you are MAGNUM

Kyla I happen to think you were the most Beautiful Woman in the picture.. I also believe a lot of your beauty does come from within, your so down-to-earth and such a nice person. We all Love you!!
xoxo
Kat
hi kyla tku for keeping it real – ur beauty warmth shines through – love ur site – tku for all your hard work and honesty xxx
Kyla – the reason I have decided to follow your workouts is because you look like a “real” person – you look fit, healthy, and fun loving. You mentioned in your comments above that small breasted women get nowhere in the fitness/modelling world….I hope you don’t sacrifice your health and credibility to fit into a false world. You are perfect just as you are, and are a great role model for other women who want to be the best that they can be, naturally.
Patti I appreciate the support and following:) I will stay just as I am!! xo
